The Postdoctoral Insurance Plan offers you the choice of either the Aetna Dental DMO plan or the Aetna Dental PPO Plan, both providing a broad range of coverage for dental procedures. You are automatically enrolled in the Dental DMO Plan. You have the option of choosing the Dental PPO plan at initial enrollment or during Open Enrollment. If you do enroll in the dental PPO plan, you will be responsible for the difference in premium between the dental DMO and the dental PPO. If your mentor is going to pay for the upcharge, please be sure to complete a Dependent Contribution Worksheet found under Enrollment.

Please click on the Aetna Plans link then click on DMO for a complete listing of services and relative copays associated with this plan. Exams, cleanings (also known as 'prophylaxis'), x-rays and most fillings are covered at no-charge.
We recommend that you make a copy of the above referenced list to take with you to your dental appointments so you may always have a reference to what your copay will be for the procedures that are performed. Please note that the frequency of exams, cleanings and x-rays are relative to the plan.
It is necessary that you choose a Primary Dentist (PD) for the Dental DMO plan. Please click on the Provider Directory link at left in order to choose a dentist in your area. You will find detailed instructions on the Provider Directory page to assist you in navigating the site. If you do not choose a PD, and do not put the six digit PD office number on your enrollment form, you will receive an ID card that says "No PD selected," and you will have to contact Aetna Member Services to assist you. If you wish to change your PD selection, please click on the Provider Directory for instructions.
The Aetna Dental PPO Plan
This plan offers you the option of seeking services from an in-network or out-of-network dentist. It is important to understand that the Dental PPO Plan is not as comprehensive as the DMO plan in that there are limits to the dollar amount of services provided on an annual basis. Co-insurance levels can change between in and out-of-network services. Please click on the Aetna Plans link, then click on PPO to view a summary of benefits and services offered by this plan. In order to find a participating dentist in your area, please click on the Provider Directory for instructions.
