Principal Financial Group Point of Service (POS) Plan
The Principal Financial Group POS plan offers comprehensive coverage, adding an additional tier of benefits as an option for your care, called the EPO Tier. A POS plan incorporates three tiers for delivery of care and you choose the tier you desire at the time of service:
The EPO Tier: There are no deductibles in this tier, with preventive and basic covered at 100%, and major covered at 60%. Basic procedures covered include periodontics and endodontics. This tier offers you the maximum amount of savings when you seek dental care.
The PPO Tier: This tier offers preventive at 100%, basic at 90% and major at 50%, with no deductibles.
Non-Network Tier: This tier allows you to seek care from any non-network provider, at 100% preventive, 80% basic and 50% major. Please be aware, however, that there is a maximum allowable charge in non-network for all services. It is recommended that you ask your provider for a detailed list of expenses associated with your particular care prior to the date of service so you will know how much the plan will cover. You will pay 100% over the maximum allowable charge.
Another valuable benefit included in this plan is the ‘Maximum Accumulation’ feature. This allows for a portion of unused maximum benefit to carry over to your next year’s maximum benefit amount.
